In the earlier days, Top Gear was more consumer oriented, but now the British motoring show is made mostly for entertainment purposes. The transition of the show's purpose has taken a few season, and is arguably still changing today. Whatever your preferences, I think we can all agree that Top Gear is not yet ready to die.

If you would like others to recognize your season, please describe the season and it's highlights in the comments below.

Season 12 , peaking with episode 6, which I consider the finest of the entire show. Episode 6 featured the Caterham 500 versus the Veritas RS3, Communistical Cars, Boris Johnson as an absolutely fantastic guest, and the infamous Ford Fiesta test.

That Fiesta test definitely set a standard for reasonably-priced cars after theme change, and I am glad they kept it going with the Renault Twingo and new Kia Cee'd.

Honestly, I don't think it'll be long. They seem to have explored every avenue at this point. Series 20 had its highlights (like the last 10 minutes or so of it), but a lot of it was repetition of ideas and/or jokes they've already done. People won't tolerate that for long. I think it'll need either another reinvention or they'll just have to wrap it up by Series 22 or so. It'll be sad, but everything has its time.

Oh, and quite honestly I can't think which is my favourite series.

I love every series, but if I had to chose it would be season 10. It's got everything a Top Gear series should have.

And regarding how long they'll contiinue: I don't see Top Gear getting canceled before Clarkson is unable to drive and speak. It's a timeless show, and cars are still a great part of our world. Some slight changes will of course happen, but every show of this type does so.

It turned into the light comedy show it now is.

I reflexively thought Season 10. I was pleased to see most voters agreed with me. Twas epic.
